Why this privacy and cookie statement?
We would like to make clear which personal data we use, why we do this and how we protect our data. This way, you are completely informed.
We think it is important to protect your personal data and we will only use your data to offer you our services, optimize your user experience and improve our services. We adhere to the General Data Protection Regulation.
Your Whydonate account
You can submit the following data into your Whydonate account:
- First and Last Name
- So we can address you properly and show other users on the platform who you are.
- Email address
- So you can identify yourself when you log in to your account and so we can email you.
- Your password is saved in an encrypted way so only you can access it; not us and not someone else.
- Profile data
- You can add more information about yourself and the charity on your profile so other users can see who you are and what the cause is. That makes it easier for us to link donators and causes.
- So we can offer insight as to where the donation has gone.
- So we can debit the donations from and transfer them to the correct IBAN.
We use all this data to ensure the service is as good as possible, and the platform is as user-friendly as possible. You decide what information from your profile is visible for other users. So, if you do not want to share your personal information with other users, you don’t have to. We want to be sure that you are happy with the entire experience on our platform, so if you want to keep your identity as a supporter/donor hidden, we make this possible. This means you can make an anonymous donation. In that case, there is no name attributed to your donation.
We only email you when you email us first or when you use a part of our website for which we want to send you an email confirmation (for example after registration or after receiving a donation). We will only send you an email with for example an offer in it if you give us permission to do so.
In addition, you can sign up for the regular email update. This means we occasionally send you an update with the most interesting developments and projects on the platform. Of course, you can use your account to unsubscribe for these at any time.
Sharing with others
In some cases, we hand your data over to other parties. This is the case when we have a legal obligation to do so, when we employ third parties to perform services on our behalf or when this is necessary to protect our rights.
Outside of these cases we will never give your personal data to any other parties without your consent.
We will never post messages on your Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Google+ or LinkedIn account without your permission either.
Managing your information
Do you want to know which of your personal data we have? Or do you want us to amend or delete your data from our system? No problem. Contact us via the email address at the bottom of this privacy statement.
Cookies are small temporary text files for your computer. We use different cookies, such as functional and analytical cookies.
By using the cookies, we recognize you when you visit our platform again and it prevents you having to re-enter the same data over and over again. It also helps us to learn about how you use our site, so we can continuously improve it and make it more user-friendly.
Whydonate uses Google Analytics for statistical analyses of how you use the Whydonate services. Google Analytics collects information about how you navigate the website, how much time you spend on the platform, how much time you spend on a certain page, which website led you to the Whydonate platform, the type of browser that is used, the IP address of your mobile phone or tablet, and the websites you visit after you use the Whydonate Platform. This information is collected and analyzed to improve the user-friendliness of the Whydonate platform and to improve Whydonate’s marketing activities.
Secure payment environment
It is very important to us that you can donate and receive donations safely. That is why we use a secure internet environment as soon as you start the payment of your donation. That way, others do not have the chance to secretly look in while you are doing it. Through SSL (Secure Socket Layers), transactional data is encrypted before it is sent via the internet. You can recognize the safe SSL connection by the https:// in the address in your address bar.
Our reliable partner Google hosts our platform and we use their data center in Belgium to do that. That means that the servers where the data is stored are inside the European Economic Area (EEA). We will take all possible security measures to ensure your personal data is safe on these servers and within the EEA.
