We plant trees to regenerate our planet, to compensate carbon foot print, to support local farmer families, to stop erosion, to empower women, to fight poverty and to contribute to biodiversity.
180.Earth has a dream to make healing of our planet together a reality. We are living now and thinking and caring for our future, the future of our children, our grandchildren and many generations to come.
Trees are cut every minute of the day, every day of the week, every week of the month and every month of the year. Annually, world wide 42.000 trees are cut per day. That sums up to 15 billion trees every year! (study by the journal Nature). This affects wildlife, ecosystems, weather patterns and even the climate. Between 1990 and 2016 the world lost 502,000 square miles (1.3 million square kilometers) of forest, according to the World Bank—an area larger than South Africa!!
So let’s make a 180 degree shift to save our planet, to save, support and help people and start today with the regeneration of our planet. We believe that economy and ecology can not be separated and should be complementary to each other.
Our dream and ultimate goal
180.Earth dreams about a green planet with fresh air, sufficient resources for everyone; a planet that is ‘future-proof’. If we can warm up the earth, we can also cool it down. The 180.Earth circulair solution does not only save our planet, it also fights poverty. We fight poverty by planting trees at homes, families and small scale farmers to generate income in the near future.
180.Earth's goal for 2021 is to plant 5 million trees. Quite ambitious but it will only compensate for the number of trees being cut in approximately 120 days. Our ultimate goal for the coming years is to plant 20 million trees every year for at least 10 years. That adds up to 200 million trees over 10 years. That means replacing the 42.000 trees per day for 10 years and adding a number of trees that normally would have been cut in 3 years.
Our mission and your help
We started our mission already in Malawi, South-East Africa with planting 300.000 seedlings at a tree-nursery in Dedza region. And you can help by donating trees, fruittrees and cookstoves. Compensate your carbon footprint, stop erosion, empower women, contribute to biodiversity, fight poverty. Let's do this together!
